PUMA Argentina S.A. and 360Energy have announced the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), marking a significant milestone in the renowned sportswear brand’s sustainability strategy in Argentina. This is PUMA Argentina’s first renewable energy supply agreement, signaling the beginning of a transition in its energy matrix and a meaningful impact on the environment.

The 5-year contract will enable the supply of 100% renewable energy to PUMA’s factory located in La Rioja, just 200 kilometers from 360Energy’s solar complex in Chilecito, in the same province, which will provide the energy. PUMA has been present in Argentina for over 45 years, with its own production plant operating since 1981.

Notably, the La Rioja facility is PUMA’s only wholly-owned production plant globally. It manufactures a wide range of athletic footwear—from football to running, fitness, and casual wear—for both adults and children. Thanks to the agreement with 360Energy, the plant will produce 3 million products annually using 100% clean energy.

The PPA includes the supply of 2.9 GWh of clean energy per year, representing a significant step toward reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

“This agreement is a key step in our commitment to sustainability and the fight against climate change. We are showing that the sportswear industry can be a driver of environmental change,” said Gustavo Marques, Managing Director Argentina.

Federico Sbarbi Osuna, CEO for the Southern Hemisphere at 360Energy, added:

“We are proud to support PUMA Argentina on its path toward decarbonization. Agreements like this one show that large companies play a key role in leading the energy transition in Argentina, creating both environmental and economic benefits.”

Positive Environmental Impact

The agreement will reduce approximately 1,300 tons of CO₂e emissions annually, equivalent to planting over 20,000 trees. It also strengthens the development of Argentina’s renewable energy matrix by promoting distributed generation and the efficient use of the region’s abundant natural resources.

The 360Energy solar complex in La Rioja, which will supply energy to PUMA, is one of the largest photovoltaic solar parks in Argentina dedicated to supplying private companies. This state-of-the-art facility leverages the exceptional solar radiation conditions of the province, one of the best regions in the country for solar energy generation.
